I regret to inform you all that I finally did it. I turned thirty yesterday. That means I'm no longer some snot-nosed kid poking around in Kirkwood's business, I'm finally a snot-nosed adult poking around in it! I can't tell you what a gift you all have been; how much you have helped give these first thirty years a sense of meaning and purpose. Here's to 30 more! I'm tied down bumming around coastal Maine for the occasion, so just a few items for you today:

- Monday's ARB agenda revealed the second commercial tenant of the soon-to-open Aria: "Salon Two One Zero" will be joining "Ivy on Monroe," the all-day wine bar and cafe we discussed last week
- Tonight's City Council agenda features the vote on rezoning 422 S Clay to B-2 General Business. I won't hold my breath on a zoning text amendment of the entire B-4 district, but let us, at the very least, hope that the Council does what's best for the fiscal health of the city and at least approve this request. But if someone wanted to be a hero and go for the full enchilada (for my birthday!) I wouldn't be opposed!
- The agenda for tonight's City Council work session features updates on all kinds of things from the sale of Kirkwood Water to the zoning of Downtown Kirkwood, to the transparency of the city website. I don't know that any of it is hard enough to be considered "news" but it does make for interesting perusing if you're a freak like me!
- I'm not a lawyer, but the lawsuit re: Kirkwood Electric being responsible for a fire seems insane to me when you read the details and I do not think it deserves to be anywhere near the page-1, above-the-fold positioning the WKT gave it last week, let alone a Post-Dispatch story. Read the timeline (that they only get to on pg.7) where they reveal that Kirkwood repaired everything and then some private company started the fire due to negligence a week later. I'm sorry this happened to a nice elderly couple, but being broke is not a crime (if it was, I would've been locked up a long time ago) and this lawsuit is dumb. I'm only 30 so I remember very little of the lead up to Iraq, but I sorta feel like I get how it happened now!
