Another light week this week, but I was able to dig up a couple of things for your enjoyment:

- Tonight's City Council work session agenda brings news that the Council is once again preparing to vote on drastically tightening stormwater mitigation requirements. Very little has changed about the proposed rules since the Council first heard testimony from numerous industry professionals that these rules will increase the cost of both buying and maintaining a home in Kirkwood. More to come.
- From last week's Webster-Kirkwood Times: The 100-year anniversary of the library is coming up. I'd like to once again suggest that the centennial anniversary of this venerable institution would be a great opportunity to add a small cafe in the vestibule/gift shop staffed by volunteers. Not only would it provide another potential source of revenue, it would also make the library a more hospitable place to work

• I took a look at the city's streets projects page and I'm very dismayed to see that a road diet is not currently included in the description for the South Kirkwood Road project. Shifting from four traffic lanes to two traffic lanes and a center turn lane not only improves pedestrian safety, it also helps relieve traffic congestion, connect Meacham Park to the rest of the community, and expand Downtown Kirkwood. We can't let this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity slip; email your council members!
