Hi Friends,
Another busy week on my end, but hopefully things will slow down here soon and I can get some new long-form pieces out to you. Until then, let's jump into some quick hits!
Quick Hits:
  • Next Tuesday, April 15th, Kirkwood will host it second open house for the Southeast Kirkwood (Meacham Park) Connectivity Plan next Tuesday, April 15th, at KPAC from 4-7pm. You can read about the full history of the plan here. I especially want to encourage residents of Meacham Park to attend. The city is really desperate to learn how it might improve pedestrian safety in and around the neighborhood and having access to local knowledge will be key to ensuring we get the best project we can get. The city has until June 26th to submit an application for SS4A grant funding to implement whatever plan it develops, so time is of the essence!
  • Kirkwood landed THREE restaurants on Ian Froeb's STL 100, the definitive list of the 100 best restaurants in the are, which has to be a record for us. Congrats to Nathaniel Reid Bakery (which deservedly makes the list year in and year out) and Clementines (which claims the old Custard Stand as one of eight total location) but the most exciting inclusion had to be Honey Bee's, which originally started as a food truck at the Kirkwood Farmer's Market. Well done!
  • If you get your trash picked up on Thursdays, tomorrow, April 11, is your deadline to register for the Spring bulky item pick-up. Instructions for how to register are available by clicking the "Collection Schedule" menu item on this page.
  • As noted on pg. 14-A of last week's Webster Kirkwood Times: I messed up and the Farmer's Market opens THIS Saturday, April 12th with an opening celebration from 10am-2pm. Apologies for the error, but it sounds like a great time! Who knows, you might even encounter the next restaurant to land on Ian Froeb's list!
That's it for this week. Have a great weekend everyone! Talk soon.
