I'm coming to you a couple of days early today so that I don't miss some important happenings around town today and Wednesday. I hope you don't mind! Let's get into it.

- This morning, Tuesday, March 25tth, Mayor Gibbons will host her regular "Grounds for Discussion" at KPAC at 9am. Show up, grab some bean juice, and let the Mayor know making it easier to build in the city is important to you! Maybe even stick around for the concert afterwards at 10:30 if you're so inclined!
- Then, tonight at 5pm, the Council will hold a special work session to conduct a performance review of Chief Administrative Officer Russ Hawes. Such reviews are mandated each year, but given some disagreements the current iteration of the Council has had with the CAO, this one could be a bit more tense than the usual fare. There's no opportunity for public comment, but I encourage you to show up and observe in person (the Council does not stream their work sessions despite the Mayor having given some indications that she would change the policy if she were elected). The meeting will be held in the conference room on the main level.
- The public comment period for the Argonne project's grant application is now open, but it ends at close of business this Wednesday, March 26th. This is a great opportunity to help secure some federal funding for Kirkwood, while simultaneously encouraging the city to improve the project (for example by reducing lane widths and protecting the bike lane with a buffer. The comment I submitted can be found for reference at the link above and you can submit you own comment by clicking here. It takes a minute and a half!
- On pg. 4-A, in last week's Webster-Kirkwood Times, there's a write-up on Kirkwood's misappropriation of opioid prevention funds. I'd love to see the hometown paper do a bit more digging on this. It still seems that no one on city staff nor any of our elected leadership have taken any responsibility for this, nor have they taken any action to correct the error.
- I'm sorry to have missed alerting Monday trash-route households that last week was the deadline to register for the Spring bulky item pick-up, but if you get your trash picked up on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, there's still time! Instructions for how to register are available by clicking the "Collection Schedule" menu item on this page. The deadline for Tuesday trash routes is this Friday.
